Jagua (a South American fruit gel) stains blue-black like a real tattoo and lasts 10–14 days. Henna stains red-brown to mahogany and can last up to three weeks. Our hennagua blend sits in between with a dark berry-brown. See the comparison page for a side-by-side view.

Both are 100% natural and vegan — no PPD or chemical dyes. Still, always do a patch test: apply a coin-sized dot on your inner arm and wait 24 hours. Skip jagua if you have a known tropical-fruit allergy, and consult a doctor first for young children, pregnancy, or G6PD deficiency.

Clean, oil-free skin works best. Apply your design with the cone or bottle tip, let the gel dry fully and leave it on for 4–6 hours (overnight is even better), then peel it off — don't wash it off. Avoid water on the design for the next 12 hours while it develops.

That's normal! Right after peeling, jagua looks pale grey-green. The colour oxidises and darkens over 36–48 hours — judge the result on day 2 or 3, not day 0.

Jagua gel is fresh produce: keep it in the freezer, where it lasts about 6 months, and thaw 15–20 minutes before use. Henna cones keep 3–4 months frozen. Powders and the aftercare balm live happily in a cool, dry cupboard.
